I love to travel, as you well know, and I love it in particular for the like-minded souls one meets on the road. Take Jane Glendenning, for example. We met five years ago in Peru when I was between jobs (en route to the USA) and she was taking a year off from marketing en route to becoming a teacher.
We hiked the Inca Trail together, combatted smyptoms of altitude together, exchanged life stories (its a long walk!) and tails of respective other halves (as you do) and swapped email addresses on the off chance that our paths might some day cross again.
Well, what do you know! They did. Jane got back in touch with me via this very blog and spent this past weekend visiting Emma and I here in San Francisco with her fella, Justin, who coincidentally she'd just fallen for five years ago, on the eve of departing for her year off. We biked across the Golden Gate bridge, visited the usual tourist haunts, drank in swanky SF nightspots and even recalled a few Inca days.
And that's it really. A simple blog to recount the simple pleasures that abound when one steps outside one's daily routine, explores another land and extends a hand-shake in friendship. So, next time you hit the road and swap an email address...keep it handy, you never know!
You've just made up that word, haven't yo?
Is this still part of the "my life as a car crash" series? "Occasionally people bump into me on hills"

What a GREAT photo.

I'm not sure I made up the word. I have a vague idea that someone in a movie made it up.
And my life is not a car crash. It's more of a motorway: occasionally fast, occasionally congested, occasionally needing total resurfacing. Hmmm...there might be a book idea there, or at least enough inspiration for a poem!

Book idea, you say? Have you finished the first one already?

'Finished' is a very vague word. I would say I have finished starting my book.

Hey, is there really a one man band who'll toot his flute for you, in Llama Land?

Anu - this is not 'that' kind of weblog. Kindly take your smutty comments elsewhere!

What ARE you talking about? This is a simple straightforward request for confirmation of Old Blue Eyes' contention in Come Fly With Me...Oh, I see what you mean
