Parenting is a wonderful journey. You never quite know which little or large milestone you're going to encounter on any given day.
In the past few weeks, for example, pointing has become all the rage in William's world.
Out of the blue he started to respond to the often-uttered questions "Where's Lauren?" and "Where's George?" (his cousins) by pointing to their pictures on the wall above his bed.
He may as well have started speaking in Latin, I was so surprised!
Speaking of milestones, it wasn't our intention to give up breastfeeding just yet. However, during her stay at the hospital, Emma received so many gallons of antibiotics, painkillers and Lord-knows-what-else through her blood stream, that we decided whatever milk was coming out of her really shouldn't be going into William.
As a result, we were forced to try William on the dreaded 'formula'. Now, I was no expert, but I had a feeling that any milk-substitute named 'formula' probably wasn't going to taste quite as good as the home-brew.
I was right. William thought it tasked disgusting. In the week I was home alone with him, he wouldn't drink it at all and accordingly went to bed without....and then woke up hungry at 4am whereupon I fed him warm oatmeal in order to get him back to sleep.
Well, one week on, things are looking much better. So much so, that this evening William proved he really didn't need daddy to feed him formula anymore.
I thought you might like to enjoy the milestone just as I did! nonpublic
